Besqab starts the first residential blocks in Skeppskajen Uppsala
Besqab AB (publ) (“Besqab”) broke ground for the first residential blocks in the new city area Skeppskajen. The new blocks are located in an old industrial site. The industrial area is now being replaced by new modern city blocks with housing, workplaces, shops and restaurants.
Besqab’s CEO Magnus Andersson broke ground together with Erik Pelling, Chairman of the Municipal Board in Uppsala, and also together with a young future resident.

“We would like to thank Uppsala for cooperation. Today’s breaking ground marks the start of Skeppskajen’s first blocks, with a total of 209 homes with the Nordic Ecolabel Svanen. We started sales at the end of last year and received a great reception from the market, which meant that we could start production before summer.”
Erik Pelling, Chairman of the Municipal Board:
"The development of Skeppskajen is important for Uppsala. The city is growing and we see a demand for central located housing, in different forms. Skeppskajen has a phenomenal residential location near the city center, water and recreation areas. It is a privilege to be able to combine old buildings with new and fill a forgotten part of Uppsala with new life."
Facts:
The first to be built in the area is the residential block with the houses Rågslussen, Kornbryggan and Havrepiren, as well as a preschool.
Kornbryggan consists of 47 apartments, ranging in size from 2 to 6 rooms. Planned to be completed in 2027.
Havrepiren is 51 apartments, sizes 1–5 roms, planned be completed at the end of 2027.
Rågslussen consists of 111 apartments, sizes 1–5 rooms, planned to be completed in 2028.
